The beginning
Angela was born into a typical middle class family on the outskirts of Washington DC. and displayed a talent for art at an early age.
A bitter divorce left her family bankrupt and forced her to live with her father at age 11 in poverty.
Rising from the rubble
Angela's father struggled with mental health and a gambling addiction. As a result, she went to work at fourteen to feed and support her and her brother. She went to school and studied during the day and worked late into the night saving money for college.
Angela worked hard through high school and secured a spot in the Governor's School for the Arts - a prestigious high school arts program for gifted students.
She went on to study animation, illustration and fine art at the Art Institute of Boston and was offered an internship to work on the Simpsons, but decided to use her talent working for nonprofit organisations.
Down Under
After escaping a long, abusive marriage she migrated to Australia in 2017 and has made Sydney her permanent home.
Throughout all these challenges, she remained strong and focused on her art.
Influenced by Surrealism and American Realism (Edward Hopper) her art incorporates elements of grief from the past, the acceptance of the present and the promise of the future. Her unique perspective on life along with recent events such as climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic influence the themes of her paintings.
